WOLCENSMEN – “Songs From The Fyrgen”

WolcCDEvocative, emotional, atmospheric… beautiful. I have run out of adjectives to try and describe the feelings I have when I listen to this recording.  Written over a 5 year period, Dan Capp, the artist behind Wolcensmen, and guitarist in Winterfylleth, has poured his heart and soul into each and every track.

An Englishman aware of his roots, and his nation’s heritage, he has encapsulated the spirit of the forest, the spirit of the sea, the human spirit, the spirit of England. Each track feels melancholic whilst being uplifting with a sense of rejoicing, a difficult juxtaposition to pull off.

Written and performed acoustically with accompanying strings, percussion and keyboards contributed by from some talented collaborators, the music certainly speaks for itself.

I won’t go meandering through each track and bore you with my unqualified analysis, I just hope these words will help inspire an extremely talented artist to further recordings in this vein, and for people who like something with folk aesthetic and total integrity to listen and explore, as there is more to come. Limited to 500 physical digipack copies you will want to own this cd, but if you missed the boat,  it can be obtained digitally via the Bandcamp site.
